Is Same Street free for residents?
Yes, completely. There is no charge to join or use the platform.
Do we need to sign a contract?
No. There is no formal commitment required. Care homes can simply recommend Same Street to residents and families.
How do you handle safeguarding?
We have a published safeguarding policy. Concerns can be reported to us at hello@samestreet.co.uk and we respond within one working day. We signpost to Samaritans and other services where appropriate.
What data do you collect from residents?
We collect only what is necessary to run the platform. We are registered with the ICO and comply with UK GDPR. Our full privacy policy is available at samestreet.co.uk/privacy.
Can family members join too?
Yes. Same Street is open to any adult in the UK, including family members and carers who want to find support or community.
Do residents need to be tech-savvy?
No. Same Street is designed specifically for older people — large text, simple navigation, warm language. If a resident can send a text message, they can use Same Street. Staff can help residents get set up initially.
What devices does it work on?
Any device with a web browser — phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. No app download needed.
What if a resident passes away?
We delete accounts within 30 days of being notified by a family member or care home at hello@samestreet.co.uk. This is documented in our privacy policy.
Does this support our CQC outcomes?
Yes. Same Street is designed to support resident wellbeing and social engagement — both of which are relevant to CQC quality-of-life outcomes. As residents build connections and participate in the community, this activity can be referenced in your wellbeing records.
