Same Street — Community Guidelines
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Welcome to Same Street 🧡
Same Street is a warm, safe community for people living in UK care homes. We've built this space so you can find friendship, share your story, and feel a little less alone.
To keep Same Street a place everyone feels comfortable, we ask all members to follow these simple guidelines.
Be Kind
This is the most important rule. Everyone here has been through something. Treat others the way you'd want to be treated — with patience, warmth, and respect.
What's Welcome Here
- Sharing your story and life experiences
- Making friends and having conversations
- Offering kind words and encouragement
- Joining events and group discussions
- Asking for advice or a listening ear
- Sharing memories, hobbies, and interests
What's Not Allowed
To keep everyone safe, the following are not permitted on Same Street:
Harmful behaviour
- Bullying, harassment, or unkind comments directed at another member
- Threatening or aggressive language
- Deliberately upsetting or distressing other members
Exploitation and scams
- Asking other members for money
- Sharing links to suspicious websites
- Impersonating someone else
- Attempting to exploit vulnerable members in any way
Inappropriate content
- Sharing someone else's personal information without their permission
- Posting sexual or explicit content
- Sharing content that promotes harm to yourself or others
Privacy
- Do not share your full address, phone number, or financial details publicly on the platform
- Be cautious about sharing personal contact details with people you have just met
Staying Safe
Same Street is a lovely community but please remember:
- We are not a crisis service. If you are in distress, please contact Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time, day or night).
- We are not medical advisors. For health concerns, please speak to your GP or care home staff.
- Take your time getting to know people. Genuine friendships build slowly. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, please report them to us.
If You're Worried About Someone
If you see something that concerns you — whether it's a message from another member or content that seems harmful — please let us know straight away.
We take all reports seriously and will respond within 24 hours on working days.
What Happens If These Guidelines Are Broken
We gently moderate Same Street to keep it safe. If someone breaks these guidelines:
- We may remove the content
- We may send a friendly reminder of the guidelines
- In serious cases, we may suspend or permanently remove the account
We always aim to be fair and kind in how we handle these situations.
A Note for Carers and Family Members
If you are helping a loved one use Same Street, thank you. Please help them understand these guidelines and encourage them to come to you or to us if anything makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Questions?
If you're ever unsure about something, just ask us.
We're always here to help. 🧡
