Help with background checks
Before you can visit a care home resident in person, we need a simple background check (called a DBS check) to keep everyone safe.
An Enhanced DBS check (approx. £65 via uCheck.co.uk — price updated as of July 2026) is required before visiting any care home resident in person. If you need help covering the cost, here are common funding routes you can explore.
🎓 Already on a placement? NHS and social care students often have an Enhanced DBS arranged through their university or NHS trust. Check with your placement coordinator before applying — you may already be covered.
🙌 No specialist qualifications needed. Conversation, companionship, and helping with hobbies or day trips are just as valued as care experience.
